World's Best Horse Racing Festivals
Horse racing festivals have owned a lot of fame in the last decades because in addition to horse racing, these festivals also provide a package of fun to the audience come to watch the season from different parts of the world. The trained jockeys make the event more amusing’ the horse festivals also serve as the wide place of gambling or betting and so is more liked by people.
10. LITANG HORSE RACING FESTIVAL
The Litang festival is the most renowned summer stock horse festival which is held for consecutive seven days in August in the civic of Litang, Sichuan. The Litang festival is praised due to its contribution towards social economic hierarchy growth. 9. THE GRAND NATIONAL
The Grand National is the world’s greatest steeplechase which occurs annually at Aintree Racecourse in England. The Grand National was introduced for the first time in 1836. This is the longest National Hunt Race which covers the distance of four miles and four furlongs. This three day meeting is sponsored by John Smith’s which is watched by more than 600 million people. 8. PRIX DE L’ARC DE TRIOMPHE
Europe’s biggest and richest horse racing, Prix de L’arc de Triomphe is presented at Longchamp Racecourse in France, Paris. This was introduced in 1920 for the racing of thoroughbred and flat types. It runs on right handed track of 2,400 meters distance on a grassy surface. Runners gather from all over the world to fight for the honors in the highly intensive race which is the feature event on the Sunday of October and hence called ‘Arc Weekend Meeting’. This great race is sponsor by Qatar. It includes two levels in which the first Group consists of seven races while two are in Group second. The winner is rewarded an astounding $10,500,000 purse.
7. GALWAY RACES
The Galway Race Festival is the Ireland’s premier which is attended by more than 40,000 race goers every year. It takes place at Ballybrit Racecourse, Galway beginning from last Monday of July for seven consecutive days. It was a two day event when it started in 1869 but soon as it gained fans and fame it expanded to seven days. Galway race is has a one mile and two furlongs as its course. Thursday is the busiest day of the week of Galway festival. It is the most colorful and fastest growing festivals in the world as it builds the atmosphere of excitement and passion.
6. CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
The best festival to enjoy the war between trained British and Irish horses is the Cheltenham festival which is held at Cheltenham Racecourse in March. This National Hunt Meeting is into light since 1860. The Cheltenham festival is a four day festival. Each day consist of six races one of which is the championship race. This festival is highlighted with those festivals which lead in betting in races with over 600 million pounds. The final winner is the one who wins maximum of races out of 26 in all four days. 5. NEWMARKET FESTIVAL
Newmarket festival is commonly called as ‘summer festival’ or ‘July festival’ as it is hosted in the month of July. 4. BREEDERS CUP
The race for Breeder’s Cup is in public eye since 1984. It is a two day racing event occurring every year and the race type in which is thoroughbred. The location of Breeder’s world Cup Championship is any part of United States which usually varies every year. There are different race series according to the miles (110 miles, 180 miles, 200 miles, 300 miles, 380 miles and so on). The first race for the Dubai Cup held in 1996. Dubai World Cup Day not only serves as a sporting event but also a wide pool of fashion and fun. 1. MELBOURNE CUP FESTIVAL
While talking of world’s grandest horse racing festivals, the Melbourne Cup festival comes at the first position to discuss on. The highlight of spring racing carnival is conducted at 3 pm on the first Tuesday in November every twelve months at the Flemington Racecourse, Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. This is the biggest festival in the Australian calendar and is popular since 1861.
