Top 10 Best & Strongest World T20 International Teams
Cricket’s craze has been on the rise since the past decade and today it has reached at such a level today that it is followed as a Religion in some of the Asian countries. With the start of new format, the 20 Over limited matches the Cricket interest has touched new heights. These matches interest more people because you can see some great striking of the ball from the very first ball and also see the result of the match much quicker. Twenty 20 matches is basically a 20 Over Limited match, and the complete match ends in about 100 minutes. The first T20 World cup tournament was held in 2007 and was won by India, then in 2009 which was won by Pakistan and then in 2010 which was won by England. The current World T20 tournament is currently going on and we are yet to see the result but we are predicting the Best T20 team as per our views in the list here.
Note: This list isn’t based on ICC Ranking but put up according to the author views.
Ok, so i understand that i would face a lot of negative views for the list, but thats what we feel is the top most competitors for the Twenty 20 WorldCup 2012.
1. West Indies
West Indies undoubtedly looks like one of the most Solid Teams in this year T20 Worldcup. They have a combination of some of the best hitters and best spinners of the World. They bring the World’s best striker of the ball Chris Gayle on top of the batting line up and he has the potential to destroy any bowling attack of the world Single Handedly. West Indies squad includes: Darren Sammy (captain), Dwayne Bravo, Samuel Badree, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith. So we are certainly hopeful that West Indies is the top competitor to win the T20 Worldcup 2012.
The team that has been highly successful in the T20 Worldcup, they reached T20 finals in 2007 (where they lost by 5 runs because of one stupid shot) and then gradually went on to become the T20 Champions in the year 2009. Now they are back and look solid to win another Worldcup title this year. Pakistan team has some of the best quality spinners in the team like Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeej. Also some very solid strikers of the ball like Imran Nazir, Nasir Jamshed, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, etc. So a lot of entertainment is guaranteed from this Pakistan side.
The most successful 50 Overs Limited team hasnt been able to taste much success in T20 International matches but we could see something different this year. Australia although lacks the experience of players like Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Glenn Mcgrath, Shane Warne but the new young blood looks like a decent combination. Both the openers Shane Watson and David Warner looks like in their Prime form, also Australia have found some good talent in the form of bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc. The Austrlian team squad: George Bailey (captain), Daniel Christian, Pat Cummins, Xavier Doherty, Ben Hilfenhaus, Brad Hogg, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Shane Watson, Cameron White.
4. South Africa
South Africa has been a great team from some time but unfortunately hasnt been ever able to win a World cup title. They rank 1st on ICC Ranking list but we feel 4th place is more apt. South Africa too has decent players in their Bowling and Batting side but lack the number of hitters like Chris Gayle or Virender Sehwag which are essential in T20 formats. They do have Ab de Villiers but we feel just one big hitter isn’t enough. Although they have depth in the bowling attack which is led by World’s Best Bowler Dale Steyn. South African team squad: AB de Villiers (captain), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Johan Botha, Jean-Paul Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Jacques Kallis, Richard Levi, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Justin Ontong, Wayne Parnell, Robin Pietersen, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
India known for it’s strong batting lineup is just not getting the combination correct. With it’s top most batsmen Virender Sehwag kept out of the major recent matches the team doesn’t looks solid when playing (although they look absolutely unbeaten on paper) the players are just not been able to deliver. India won the T20 World cup in 2007 but havent been able to deliver the same ever since. The Indian Team squad consists of: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Ashok Dinda, Rohit Sharma, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Manoj Tiwary.
England team is the defending T20 Worldcup champions, but the current team is definitely missing the likes of Kevin Pieterson. They have an inexperienced side and we don’t really expect them to be able to compete with teams like Pakistan, Australia, South Africa or West Indies. They miss some reliable batsmen and bowlers who can do the work when they require. England Team Squad: Stuart Broad (captain), Jonny Bairstow, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright.
7. New Zealand
Newzealand looks like a very solid team on Paper but they havent been able to deliver consistently in the T20 Format. They have a combination of great batsmen who can strike the bowl high and handsome and decent bowling attack. It would be interesting to see if this team can be successful in this year T20 Worldcup. Newzealand Team Squad: Ross Taylor (captain), Doug Bracewell, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Ronnie Hira, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Adam Milne, Rob Nicol, Jacob Oram, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
We really wanted to keep Sri lanka above on the list specially considering their Home Advantage for T20 Worldcup 2012. But Srilanka team looks weak, their experienced batsmen just don’t look in the prime form and they have a lot of other inexperienced members who just don’t look completely ready for the International Cricket. The only players who have a power to make an impact in the Sri Lankan side are Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis, Tilakratne Dilshan and Mahela Jaywardene. Srilankan Team Squad: Mahela Jayawardena (captain), Dinesh Chandimal, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Akila Dananjaya, Shaminda Eranga, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Ajantha Mendis, Jeewan Mendis, Dilshan Munaweera, Thisara Perera, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanna.
Bangladesh team has got a potential to win a game against any World T20 team (like they won over India and Australia in past) but they just arent ready enough to be a competitor for the T20 World cup sporting event. They lack the pace and batting attack which isnt at par with top notch teams but hopefully they could come out as a better team in future. Bangladesh Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mohammad Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Jahurul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Elias Sunny, Mashrafe Mortaza, Farhad Reza, Shafiul Islam, Ziaur Rahman, Abul Hasan.
Afghanistan Cricket Team has shown a lot of potential in this year’s T20 Worldcup. A new and fresh team and hopefully they could be better quipped to fight the mighties in future games. Afghanistan Team Squad: Nawroz Mangal (captain), Dawlat Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Hamid Hassan, Izzatullah Dawlatzai, Karim Sadeq, Mohammad Jawed Ahmadi, Mohd Nasim Baras, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Asghar Stanikzai, , Najibullah Zadran, Samiullah Shinwari, Shafiqullah Shafaq, Shapur Zadran.
